Job Alike Tasks

One of the primary purposes of this session is to network with other people who are working in a similar field to you and to create the possibility of future networking. Therefore collect the names of all the people who attend your session along with their emails. I will attach to this email a form that you can print off and do this on. If you can email me the completed form after the session we will collate all the information for you. It would be good if you sent out an email afterwards to everyone who attends your session so that they have each others emails

Suggested Protocol

Some sort of introductory activity. This will depend upon the size and nature of your group so I don’t want to be too prescriptive. With a small group it might be a simple round of introductions. With bigger groups get them to form groups according to questions like the following.

Imagine the room is a map of the world. North America, Asia etc. Get people to stand in the area where they are working
Get them to move to the area where they are from
Get them to come to the center if where they were born is different to where they are from.
Get those in their areas where they are from to do something that typifies their country.
Another activity for smaller groups can be to divide them in pairs and find out about the other person and then report back to the group.
I am sure you have plenty of ideas

The second activity can be to have people share potential discussion items. If there are too many write them up and get people to prioritize them. Then break them into groups and give one item per group. Give them paper to summaries their findings and then at the end present them to the whole group using the visualizer.

Put them into smaller groupings of similar interests. Then give them a task that will enable them to share one good idea they have used that really works with their age group and subject area or area of responsibility.

It really helps if you go prepared with the some questions that you want to discuss and want answers to. Also to have some examples to share so that encourages others to share.

Remember you are the facilitator not the expert of these groups. The point is to get the discussion going, let those with expertise share and to collect information and feed back and then have everyone’s emails so that you can send that out.

Hopefully this will stimulate your thinking.
